Apples!!!

Apples!!

I planted two apple trees this year! Goes with out saying they still wont be ready for at least a few more years. Hoping they last through the winter I am debating on weither or not I should cover them up. So if you know if I should leave me a comment i probably don’t have to but im so worried about my little apples babies! Until my apple trees produce we will keep up with the tradition of going to pick apples with our famiy at Millers Apple Hill. This year I decided that I wanted to do a little more we went and picked apple which wasn’t higher than it normally is we got a half bushel for 27$ which in turn gave me 3 and a half qts of apple sauce and some left over for eating. I also though it would be a good idea to get 36lbs of apples for not a bad price of 30$ which is also giving me 6 qts of applesauce, 2 pints of appple butter and 5 qts of apple pie filling Canning apples is amazing, you dont have to pressure can them, and the smell of cinnamon and apples through th house smells so good! The peeler I have the kids love to help with. They like to crank the handle and it does make peeling apples so much easier and it spiral slices them also so you don’t have to worry about the apple slices being different sizes and cooking at different times. I will list the peeler and the recipes for the applepie filling and apple sauce.
